This dairy-free Pineapple Banana Smoothie is light and refreshing, perfect with breakfast or as a snack any time throughout the day.
If the gray skies of January have you dreaming of warm summer days, mix up a batch of smoothies this morning and your mood is sure to improve!

Banana Pineapple Smoothie
The sweetness of the fruit is balanced nicely with the slightly tart pineapple in this drink. Without adding more than a hint of coconut flavor, coconut water creates a much lighter smoothie than the alternative dairy-based smoothies.
I like to add frozen bananas to our smoothies, but if you don’t happen to have a frozen banana on hand, a regular one will still serve to thicken the smoothie nicely. (I keep a bag of ripe peeled bananas in the freezer at all times for this reason.)
My family is laughably passionate in their love of smoothies. (That might have something to do with the reason why there are over 50 smoothie recipes on this website!) On almost any given day, you’re likely to find our blender on the counter making smoothies in almost every color of the rainbow.

Pineapple Orange Smoothie
The orange juice in this smoothie serves to sweeten the drink perfectly and that sweetness does a great job of balancing the tart pineapple.
You’ll notice that this smoothie calls for Coconut Water Ice Cubes. We rarely manage to go through a full container of coconut water, so these coconut ice cubes are a staple in our freezer.
If you don’t keep coconut water (or coconut ice cubes) on hand, you can easily swap in plain ice cubes or plain water instead.

Pineapple Banana Smoothie
You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:
- frozen pineapple chunks
- banana, frozen or not
- orange juice
- coconut water ice cubes or plain coconut water
Kitchen Tip: I use this blender or this blender to make my smoothies.

It's certainly the day for that here, what a gorgeously sunny Mother's day to enjoy a smoothie! Hope you have a happy one!
Happy Mother's Day to a fabulous mom!
Yum coconut rum
Coconut water can be bought from health shop????? No idea from where or super markets maybe??? Any idea please??
Coconut water should be available at nearly any grocery store and definitely at a health food store. You can find it with the sodas/juices/bottled waters. I hope that helps!
Just made it…. Great
I think I'd add a shot of rum!
Love the coconut water in this recipe! Yum! Reminds me of a pina colada!
Costco has it, too.
The Pineapple Orange Banana Smoothie looks delicious. Thanks for the recipe.
Looking forward to seeing other great recipes to try.
Glad you enjoyed the recipe, Marcia.
What happens if you omit the banana? Hate bananas.
You can make it without the banana. I would recommend freezing some of the other fruit, though, to make sure you have something to puree.
May be a silly question do I take the pineapple out of the can when I’m freezing it and should I freeze the banana also?
I typically just buy frozen pineapple or freeze leftover pineapple in zipclose bags. If you’re going to use canned pineapple, you’ll want to freeze it in a more accessible container.
Can I add more ice to make it thicker?
Sure thing.
i mlike smoothes
Glad to hear it, Dan.
Can coconut milk be substituted for the coconut water?
I think the smoothie might be too heavy, but I haven’t tried substituting coconut milk before, so I can’t be sure how it’d turn out. If you try making the smoothie that way, let me now.
