Smooth and creamy chocolate fondue that you can make in just a couple of minutes? What’s not to love??
Served with loads of fruit, cream puffs, graham crackers, and pretzels, this Dessert Fondue Board is a treat for the eyes and for everyone’s taste buds.
When I saw the Chocolate Fondue Board in my friend Sandy‘s new cookbook, Big Boards for Families, I knew right then that I’d be making chocolate fondue this weekend.
Like Sandy, I have a significant stash of chocolate in my kitchen at all times. There’s honestly no such thing as a chocolate-free day in my life. Chocolate pairs well with pretty much everything, right?
Sandy’s new cookbook is filled with so many delicious board ideas! From the Sheet-Pan Banana Pancakes to a Mediterranean-themed Shakshuka Board, After-School Energy Bites for snacking to a Festive Taco Dinner Board and a Weeknight Ramen Board. (My middle son is going to flip for that Ramen Board!)
Whether you’re a board-maker or not, there are great recipes for everyone in this gorgeous cookbook!
Strawberries and Chocolate
While I personally dunk everything here in chocolate quite happily, I know that may not be a favorite with everyone. Luckily, there is plenty on the board to satisfy every sweet tooth – whether they are chocolate lovers or not.
That said, strawberries and chocolate are probably the most well-known and beloved fruit + chocolate combination. (Hello, Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream) I don’t know many people who would turn down a chocolate-covered strawberry, do you?
Still on the fence with fruit and chocolate pairings? Try Chocolate Covered Blueberries, Chocolate Covered Orange Slices, Chocolate Covered Frozen Banana Bites, Chocolate Kiwi Popsicles, Chocolate Raspberry Brownies, or Dark Chocolate Orange Ice Cream for a whole new way to fall in love with chocolate.
Dessert Fondue
The fondue in this recipe can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Right before serving, heat on the stovetop over low heat, or in the microwave at 50 percent power until warm. Stir until smooth.
I love the ease of this Dessert Fondue for feeding a crowd, or just a crew of hungry teenagers at home. It’s so pretty (yes, that fact is admittedly lost on my teen boys, but still!) and it made everyone grin when I served it.
Simple Chocolate Fondue
Not a big fan of Nutella? You can make your chocolate fondue by combining 12 ounces dark or milk chocolate with 1 cup of heavy cream. Yes, it really is that easy and you’re going to love it.
To make simple chocolate fondue, heat the cream in the microwave or in a saucepan on the stove. When it is steaming, remove from the heat and stir in chopped chocolate or chocolate chips. Continue stirring until the chocolate has melted and is smooth.
Want to take it up another notch? Serve your fondue with chunks of Coconut Pound Cake, Dark Chocolate Brownies, Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites, or Homemade Marshmallows.
Crunchy, sweet and salty old fashioned Haystacks bring my Grandmother’s kitchen to mind every time I make them.
