Welcome to the weekend, my friends! We’ve had a week of muggy humidity, rain, and really warm days in Ohio, but it sure did deliver some spectacular sunsets. I’m in Kansas this morning and I’m counting down the hours until the 16th annual Symphony in the Flint Hills begins this afternoon.

I’m excited to be headed back to my friend Debbie’s cattle ranch tomorrow too. This is going to be an amazing weekend filled with delicious beef, great conversations, and there is certain to be loads of laughter. (Is there anything more fun than hanging out with people who love great food?)

ON THE BLOG this week: Fresh pineapple, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, oranges, kiwis, and blackberries are tossed with a tangy honey lime dressing to create the classic Rainbow Fruit Salad that everyone loves.

Jameson whiskey, ginger ale, and lime add up to the classic Jameson and Ginger Ale cocktail. This is an incredibly simple, refreshing drink that even non-whiskey drinkers typically enjoy. If you haven’t tried it yet, put it on your summer list!

What I’m CRAVING: BEEF! (And that’s a good thing, since it’s on the menu all weekend. Have I mentioned enough how excited I am to be hanging with Chef Michael this weekend?!)

My FAVORITE THING this week is this cheap little kitchen sink caddy. I’ve tried this kind of thing in the past and it was always kind of a joke. Too big, too small, suction cups that don’t work – I’ve tried, and eventually tossed, several of these things over the years. This one? It’s an absolute keeper! Perfect size and no stupid suction cups! It just hangs over the sink divide and easily contains a sponge and a couple of brushes.

What I’m LISTENING to: Meseidy and Rebecca’s My Plate is Always Full podcast. My kids and I just listened to “That’s One Spicy Episode.” We laughed (and learned too!) and wrote down a couple new hot sauces to try soon.

What I’m READING: The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie King. I’ve lost track of how many of you have recommended this book series to me over the years. Well, it finally came available on my holds list at the library and I happily dove into it. I’m hooked.

I’m thrilled that there are quite a few books in the series. This is the story of Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes and while not the fastest paced of books, they’re excellent. The first book has a lot of back story, but I have no doubt it will only get better and better.

“Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for.” – Viktor E. Frankl

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
