I did not grow up with a fireplace in our home but on rainy or cold winters days, my Mom would turn up the freestanding heater to high. My brother and I would sit on the floor in front of it, wearing our warm Sox and drinking hot chovolate

one of my favourite memories as a child is going outside and standing under the trees and shaking them so all the snow would fall on us, down our necks and in our hair

My favorite Christmas memory is when I had my first child. He was 7 months old and the pure joy of him seeing all the lights was beyond words. He didn’t care at all about gifts but the boxes and paper was what he liked best. It made me think that the holidays are about being surrounded by who you love not what you have. My love swelled in that moment and ever since.

We don’t get much snow in the deep south but one year we had 13″ and the neighborhood kids had a ball! My mom made us hot chocolate several times and even made snow ice cream.

It’s hard to think about winter when you live in California! But, if it is a cold blustery day, there is nothing better than a hot chocolate, sitting by the fire, reading a good book (or People Magazine) with cozy socks to keep your feet warm!
