Ohio 230

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! It’s been gloriously chilly and rainy this week and I’m in fall heaven. Several rainy days in a row made me really appreciate the sunshine-filled days too. Have I mentioned lately just how much I love Ohio?

Our chickens are loving their new digs and I can hardly wait for the first eggs. My fingers are crossed that they’ll start laying in the next week or two!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED Today, for the fourth week of the 12 Weeks of Christmas Giveaways, I’m giving away a $100 gift card to IT Cosmetics. My two favorite products that I use twice a day every single day are the Bye Bye Make-Up Cleansing Balm and the Secret Sauce Moisturizer.

Here’s the lucky winner’s comment:

ON THE BLOG this week: Garlic Butter Roasted Carrots are caramelized carrots with slightly crisp edges in a garlic honey butter sauce. This awesome recipe is from Rebecca Lindamood’s new cookbook, The Ultimate Guide To Vegetable Side Dishes. The cookbook was released just a few days ago and take my word for it, you want to get this in your hands just as soon as possible!

Sage sausage, dried cranberries, fresh herbs, tart apples, and cubes of sourdough add up to create the best Sausage Stuffing I have ever tasted.

Butter and garlic combine to make any form of potato more delicious, don’t they? These Rustic Mashed Potatoes have been a family favorite for as long as we’ve been married.

What I’m CRAVING: These Italian Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers by A Farmgirl’s Dabbles are filled with Italian sausage, cream cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella.

My FAVORITE THINGS this week are my clipboards. You’ve probably seen them a thousand times in my Instagram stories over the years, but they continue to be the place I store my lists, my recipes in progress, my everything. It’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll find a stack of these clipboards on my desk any day of the week.

What I’m READING: These High, Green Hills by Jan Karon. The third book of The Mitford Years series was every bit as good or better than the first two. One of my favorite characters passed away in this book and I cried hard through those pages.

The character development continues to draw you in and I just love Father Tim and the rest of Mitford. These books are a balm to the soul and they’re everything I want in a book these days.

What I’m WATCHING: I just finished watching Monk – the whole series from start to end. I’d caught a few episodes over the years, but I’d never watched the whole series. It was awesome.

“In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October.” – Alexander Smith

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

I alternate between Cera-Ve and Acure Radically Different Cleaning Cream. Both of them are very nice and leave my skin clean but never dry. I look forward to your emails each week.

I use Serious Skincare for wash. I put it on before showering and wash it off in the shower. I love an exfoliating cleanser. Then I follow-up with Lancome Genifique. I’ll be 64 in December and I’m looking for a new cleanser. Thanks for all you do for us.

Cleanse, tone, moisturize. Sounds boring but it gets the job done. I love Melaluca products for my face waving routine.

To wash my face, morning and evening, I’ve always used a soft washcloth and an Oil of Olay facial cleanser. There is just something about a clean face that makes me feel wonderful!

Im old school Cetaphil Cleanser followed by the cool refreshing tingly feel of Seabreeze Astringent and it’s name says it all.

I always get the Ipsy boxes so I have copious amounts of sample sized cleansers in my drawer! I use a different one every night! LOL! I like changing it up.

In another life I used brands bought in a department store. Since I’ve been raising my now 15 year old grandson since he was 15 months old, I generally use something inexpensive like Dove soap or Garnier Micellar Water bought at Target.

I really enjoy your weekly column and have tried many of your recipes with much success.

I wash my face with lukewarm water and foaming cleanser and then rinse with ice cold water. Has worked well for 74 years!

  9. Nancy Nielsen says

I usually just use the old fashioned soap and water to wash my face. I’ve tried a few different cleaners and moisturizer creams but haven’t found a product I love. The wrinkles are coming fast and furious now and I could sure use a good face cleaner and moisturizer. Love your blog!

I use Dove for sensitive skin in evening followed with
    Simplified Skin Retinol.
In the morning, I use tepid water followed by Nutrivisage
    Vitamin C.

I know it’s probably good, but I use makeup wipes on my face and neck first, then my eyes. Twice a week I use a drugstore brand peach scrub. Old habits die hard. 😆
