I haven’t had a snow cone in years and this is certain to be the very best snow cone you’ve ever tasted. My kids went nuts over it and I grinned imagining all the possibilities.

The very same day that my friend Meseidy shared her recipe for Puerto Rican shaved ice, I ordered this Shaved Ice Machine. She made a simple snow cone sound so refreshing, I had to try it for myself. (I still can’t believe how excited I am over this simple gadget!)

This handy little machine has already provided a heck of a lot of fun for my kids and I both. On a day when the temp is well past 100 degrees, it’s pure heaven to sit and sip on spoonfuls of sweet shaved ice.

I’m giddy over the possibilities for this machine all summer long!

Sweet cream drizzled over fluffy shaved ice creates the most refreshing treat I could've imagined.
Servings: 8 -12 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 14- ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • shaved ice about 2 cups per serving

Instructions

  • Whisk together the milk, cream, condensed milk, and vanilla. Shave ice into bowls or cups and drizzle each serving with ⅓ – ½ cup of the sweet cream mixture. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

The sweet cream mixture can be prepared up to a week in advance. We keep the sweet cream in the refrigerator and drizzle it over shaved ice for a treat whenever the mood strikes.

Root beer would be the first choice in my house with a scoop of vanilla on the bottom and a snow cap in the top! We first learned of the cream on top on a trip to Island Snow in Hawaii many years ago and we are sure to enjoy it every-time we return, another family favorite!

I’d love one of these machines to use for my church’s youth department fundraisers. I grew up with these sno cream treats. My first one would be a cream soda flavor! This would be a great resource for helping our kids practice their entrepreneurial skills!

My name is carlie, and my favorite flavor is strawbetry shortcake. And that is made with a cake batter syrup, a strawberry syrup and topped with the sweet cream. The first place I ever had it was at snow Vegas about a month ago, and I’ve been obseased ever since. I would love to be able to make it on my own.

My favorite flavor is silver fox with vanilla ice cream and a snow cap. It is sooo delicious!!! I cannot get enough of the snow cap, I ask for some in the middle as well as on top.

I am looking to create some delicious ice treats for my family this summer especially because we probably won’t be able to be outside much. I like that the Hawaiian Shaved Ice machine is affordable and appears to work great. Shaved ice is a part of my childhood. Where I grew up we call this tasty treat ‘sky juice,’ sold in a clear plastic bag; just put a straw in it and sip away!
