As fluffy as a summer cloud, this intense coffee frosting is for true coffee lovers! Top chocolate cake, coffee cake, vanilla cupcakes, or sandwich between your favorite cookies.
Combine the instant coffee and the water and stir to dissolve. Place the butter in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
Add 2 cups of powdered sugar gradually, one cup at a time. Beating until well combined. Add the vanilla and the coffee, beating until well combined.
Slowly add the cream, while beating the frosting. The frosting should be light and fluffy. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
Notes
I use one (.11 ounce) tube of instant coffee (the kind from a well-known coffee shop) for each 1½ teaspoon portion listed in this recipe.Feel free to add more powdered sugar to the frosting for a thicker frosting or more cream for a thinner frosting.
