Welcome to the weekend, my friends! My week got away from me (thanks to some lovely days off) and I’m sitting here on Saturday morning finally writing this week’s newsletter.

Did you catch the Black Forest Cake recipe yesterday? I made it again this week and I’m very happily eating a slice for lunch as I write this. It’s so good!

We’ve had so much snow on the ground this week, I’ve barely made it outside for my ten minutes a day. It’s lovely though and I’m enjoying it, despite the crazy cold.

ON THE BLOG this week: Light and fluffy, slightly tangy, Buttermilk Pancakes are a great addition to your weekend brunch. Topped with maple syrup, buttermilk syrup, brown sugar butter syrup, or berry sauce with whipped cream you can’t go wrong with any of these combinations.

Easy, homemade Teriyaki Sauce is a dinner-saver on busy weeknights. With a batch of this sauce at hand, you’ll have a flavor-filled dinner on the table in just a few minutes.

Tart cherries in sweet syrup are placed between layers of rich chocolate cake, along with an abundance of barely sweetened whipped cream to make this Black Forest Cake. This has been Sean’s favorite cake for as long as I have known him.

What I’m CRAVING: Chicken Fried Chicken – is there anything that screams comfort food louder? My friend Melissa’s recipe looks terrific.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my blow dryer. I’ve been using it for over two years now and it’s still my favorite tool for quick and easy straight hair styling.

And full disclosure, I was drawn into the hype for the new Dyson airwrap – and I got it for Christmas. And then I returned it. You absolutely have to love it when a tool that is a tiny fraction of the price wins out over the fancy version.

Yes, the airwrap created great curls and waves, but since I wanted the straight hair option, it was disappointing for that. The Revlon dryer is simply so much better for my needs.

What I’m READING: Anne’s House of Dreams by L.M. Montgomery. So much joy is written into this book. There is sadness as well, and love and tears, but mostly happiness. Meeting Captain Jim, Leslie, and Cornelia – so many characters I’d half-forgotten yet remember so fondly. I laughed, cried, and sighed my way through this one.

The Kindle version of THE ENTIRE SERIES is still only $.49 (less than one dollar!) on Amazon.

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

I bought the Anne series when you first mentioned the super cheap price – HOW HAS IT NOT GONE UP!? lol.

I can’t get into the Dyson hype. I bought one of those Revlon (I think) curling brushes and for me (I have serious carpal tunnel on both wrists/hands), it has been a lifesaver.

I’ll definitely be adding the chicken fried chicken recipe to Paprika (an app/program thing we use for storing recipes and meal planning) to try, and working on convincing the husband to try the Black Forest Cake because it has me drooling!
