Salty cashews, sweet dried cranberries and dark bittersweet chocolate are combined to create my all-time favorite snack combination. I make a lot of different snack mixes, but I always come back to this one.
Snack mixes made at home taste so much better and are typically much fresher than the packaged combinations at the store.
Do you make your own snack mixes? I am always looking for new combinations to try, so I want to know what your favorites are!
Simple Trail Mix
- 2 cups cashews
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 3/4 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Stir together in a bowl and then pour into a storage container. Enjoy!

I make trail mix like this frequently – although sometimes I like to add almonds and use those mini m & m's instead of the chocolate chips.
I live very near Ohio's Amish country and I go to the bulk food stores all the time

But I'm like you…I like it simple

That looks so much so much better than grocery store mix!
I think that makes the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy.
This looks and sounds great. I'd like almonds in it too.
I like this simple combination. An elegant taste for a hiking treat. 🙂

It doesn't matter what the combination is, let's face it, the m&m's always get picked out first! I mean when its between that and raisins, really, what are you going to choose? haha
Seriously though, I like almonds, cashews, peanuts, dried cranberries or cherries, maybe even some goji berries and definitely dark chocolate! Oh and pumpkin seeds!

If I'm being Very Good, I don't put in any chocolate chips…
I really like toasted whole almonds, dried apricots, dried cherries, and roasted-salted pumpkin seeds.
Dried fruits and hint of some nuts ,chocolate chips yeaaaaah fill up the jar;)
I love trail mix too…but I have a hard time with portion control! So I usually mix in some cereal. My favorite is cheerios. I also like adding freeze-dried fruit for a lower-cal crunch.
