Crunchy popcorn topped with this salty, smoky, slightly spicy Palomitas Seasoning Mix is a popular appetizer at my favorite restaurant in Sedona, AZ.
Since I can’t always get to the restaurant, (I’m looking at you, 2000 mile move!) I make my own at home for snacking now.

If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to enjoy a meal at Elote Cafe, you’ve probably enjoyed a bowl of Palomitas.
There is almost always a wait at the restaurant, so you’re usually handed some popcorn to snack on after you’ve added your name to the waitlist.
Palomitas
Are you familiar with Palomitas? I bet you are. Palomitas is Spanish for popcorn! The seasoning mix here is what makes palomitas special.
I recommend making a large batch of this spice mix and stashing it in the pantry for all of your movie nights. It’s delicious on plain air popped popcorn and also great over a bowl full of buttered popcorn.
Don’t hesitate to sprinkle this over a bag of microwave popcorn too. No matter how you shake it, this Palomitas Seasoning Mix is a win.
Palomitas Seasoning Mix
With just a handful of spices and a jar to store them, you’re ready for a whole new popcorn snack. This is a light, fun popcorn seasoning that I can’t resist.
I was thrilled to see the recipe for this seasoning mix in the Elote Cafe cookbook. You’re going to want to keep a jar of these spices on hand.
Pair your palomitas with a soda, a seltzer, your favorite beer, a glass of wine, or whatever drink makes you smile.

If you’ve been hanging out with me for long at all, you likely recall my love for Elote Cafe. The Elote Dip from the restaurant is probably the most popular appetizer and/or side dish that I serve to guests.
For a few more memorable appetizers, you’ll want to try the best ever Queso Blanco Dip. It is a creamy, spicy, perfectly smooth, and cheesy dip just like they serve at your favorite Mexican restaurant.
Hot Bean Dip is a classic recipe that kids and adults always love. This easy recipe can be made in the oven or in the crock-pot! Serve with all your favorite dippers for a knock-out appetizer or party food.

The Ultimate Potato Chip Nachos start with a layer of crisp potato chips topped with melted cheese, then hot bacon, cool ranch dressing, and green onions.
These nachos are a riff on Luke’s Sinful Snack from Snapshots Lounge here in my town and they disappear about as quickly as I can make them.
Pomegranate Guacamole is a spicy, creamy, fresh as can be, guacamole that is likely to turn your idea of what guacamole is supposed to be completely upside down.
Inspired by the tableside guacamole served at Barrio Queen in Arizona, this is an unforgettable way to make guac and it’s been a favorite with my family for several years now.
