Welcome to the weekend, my friends! It’s glorious to be home again. How’s the start of the school year treating everyone? My guys start back again at the end of the month and they are making the most out of every minute up until then.

ON THE BLOG this week: The Best Ever Gluten Free White Cake is tender and moist, while dense enough not to crumble at the touch of a fork, this is exactly what I want in a white cake. Topped with creamy fresh strawberry frosting, or a fluffy chocolate buttercream, this cake has received more thumbs up over the past ten years than anything else I’ve baked. No one, and I do mean no one, has ever guessed that it was gluten-free.

Tangy, sweet, and lightly spiced Slow Cooker Apple Butter is my middle son’s favorite homemade fruit spread. I’ve made a few different versions of apple butter; this one is my favorite. The apple flavor is not overpowered by loads of different spices and it isn’t too sweet for my tastes.

What I’m CRAVING: ALL THE SALADS. Seriously, I’m eating salad at least once if not twice a day for a meal and I’m loving it. There’s just something incredibly refreshing about a terrific salad. This Summer Steak Salad is a unique one that caught my eye this week and it looks awesome too.

My FAVORITE THING this week is this BioFreeze Roll-On. My chiropractor introduced me to BioFreeze Professional Spray many years ago and we’ve sworn by it since then. (It’s like IcyHot, but scent-free and works much better.) This roll-on has become my favorite option for easing sore muscles. The roll-on allows for more targeted application and like the spray, it avoids having to get your hands covered in the cream or ointment.

What I’m WATCHING: Alias. Yes, again. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this series. It’s just fun. I recommend suspending all disbelief and diving into it if you haven’t watched it before.

What I’m READING: Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. I loved this book as a child and I’m enjoying re-reading it now. I’ve had a complete dearth of great books on my Kindle lately, so I decided to go back to my bookshelves for some classic childhood favorites.

“Home sweet home. This is the place to find happiness. If one doesn’t find it here, one doesn’t find it anywhere.” – M. K. Soni

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
