Ohio 269

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! We’re hitting the road tomorrow and ready to see more of this country that I love so much. Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, and Indiana are on our list this time.

And to answer the question before you can email me, the chickens are tucked in with their chicken sitter for the next few weeks. (Who knew? That’s a pretty handy house sitting thing. ha) Having chickens has proved a wee bit of a complicating factor for travel planning this year, but they’ll be well taken care of while we’re away.

If you’d like to follow along, I’ll be sharing our trip on my personal Instagram. (Feel free to shoot me a message there to let me know you’re a newsletter reader, so that I can approve you.)

ON THE BLOG this week: Jalapeno Corn Coleslaw has turned out to be the biggest surprise flavor combination I’ve tried this year. The jalapeno adds an amazing depth of flavor along with very little heat to the coleslaw and I truly love it.

These chewy, dense, Peanut Butter Cookies are an unforgettable memory from my childhood. 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies are a classic cookie; just an egg, a cup of peanut butter, and a cup of sugar. Have you tried them?

What I’m CRAVING: My friend Lynne’s Double Pepperoni Twist Bread! Oh, baby, this pepperoni bread is delicious and I already have it on my to-do list for just as soon as we’re back home.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my hammock! I love my hammock so much that I just bought another one for our campaign trip. It’s super easy to hang wherever you are. (I have hooks on trees here at the house, but the handy straps make it easy to hang elsewhere too!)

What I’m WATCHING: Elementary. This tv show is a modern take on Sherlock Holmes as he investigates crime in NYC. The characters are quirky and likeable and they definitely grow on you. I’m really enjoying it.

What I’m READING: The Unlikely Spy by Daniel Silva. I’m breaking my own rule here and telling you about a book before I’ve finished it. So many people have recommended Daniel Silva’s books, I think this is a safe one to share.

This is a solid spy novel page-turner set during WWII and I was engrossed from the first chapter. I’ll keep you posted next week when I’ve finished it!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did do.” ― Mark Twain

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
