ON THE BLOG this week: Honey Mustard Poppyseed Dressing is tangy, slightly tart, and sweet at the same time. This dressing is perfect on a crispy chicken sandwich, tossed in a slaw, or with pretty much any salad.

Pomegranate Guacamole is a spicy, creamy, fresh as can be guacamole that is likely to turn your idea of what guacamole is supposed to be completely upside down. If you are anything like me, you’re reading the title of this guacamole recipe and you’re likely about to scroll quickly past. But give me a quick moment to change your mind.

Creamy, smooth batches of chocolate and peanut butter fudge are swirled together to create this Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirled Fudge. Similar to the Buckeye Fudge that has been so popular, this is a little simpler and can be made even more easily. I predict that you’re going to love it every bit as much.

What I’m CRAVING: My friend Tricia’s Viennese Whirls caught my eye this week and they look mouth wateringly delicious! I adore fancy little sandwich cookies and I definitely don’t make them often enough. These will be lovely on any dessert tray this Christmas.

My FAVORITE THING this week is this powered floor mop. A while back I gave up on finding a steamer or any kind of powered mop that I’d be able to use on real hardwood floors. Then my friend Phi raved about her mop. (And I watched her adorable 3-year-old mop the floors with it!) So, I decided to try it.

I’m here to tell you that the mop absolutely rocks. I love this darn mop. It literally propels itself across the floors. It works like a dream on hardwood (it doesn’t leave the floors wet!), tile, laminate, pretty much anything. I’m not typically someone who gets excited about cleaning, but this mop makes mopping the floors so easy! (And for just about $120? That’s a serious win!)

What I’m WATCHING: My Santa. If a Christmas movie makes me tear up in the end, I call it a win, no matter how cheesy it is. And this one? Single mom meets the son of Santa Claus as he’s searching for a wife. What’s not to love? It’s suuuuper cheesy and it definitely made me cry a few happy ridiculous Christmas tears.

Insert mini-rant: if you’ve ever baked cookies, you just might throw up your hands at the ridiculousness of that particular storyline. Do actors/actresses never bake or cook in real life? Sometimes it’s just unreal how horribly those things are portrayed. But at least it makes me laugh.

What I’m READING: About My Mother: True Stories of a Horse-Crazy Daughter and Her Baseball-Obsessed Mother: A Memoir by Peggy Rowe. While I read Peggy’s books out of the order in which she wrote them, they both stand alone as excellent light-hearted reads. Peggy started writing her first book at 80 years old and I hope that she continues writing many more books. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed it from the first paragraph.

“Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand.” – Dr. Seuss

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

Hi May, those cookies look yummy! I love cookbooks, not that I use them a ton as a single person, its so hard to cook for one. My favorite easy dinner for me, is a huge salad with everything I have in it. Examples. Romaine lettuce, spinach, sunflower seeds, real bacon bits, any kind of cheese, raisins, onion, celery, tomatoes, carrots, left over meat or lunch meat, cabbage, pineapple, tiny apple pieces, pecans (or any other nut) with my homemade Poppy Seed Dressing that I got from a friend nearly 29 years ago. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Excellent articles, great recipes and beautiful picture of fire in the sky behind barn. I always look forward to your blog, recipes and pictures. Well done barefootinthekitchen!

My grandson’s favorite easy dinner menu for me to make is my 5 ingredient spaghetti sauce over penne pasta, salad and homemade garlic bread. It’s my favorite, too!

I think this is where I can share with everyone which of Mary’s recipes are my favorite. It was such a hard decision as every one is better than the one previous, I would have to say it is the slow cooker beef stroganoff! If it was up to my husband and kiddo I would be fixing this everyday!! Love this blog.

My favorite meal is anything in a crockpot. Set it and forget it works for me. Pot roast with yummy taters and carrots all in a savory gravy! Yum! I made your Christmas Cranberry Cake for Thanksgiving. A big hit! And so easy! Love your blog!

Hello. My name is Daniel Ryan Jones. I was in the US Army and finally I made it back home after being honorably discharged. I have been away for more than one Christmas, and my grandmother Francis makes the best dressing. I like how she cuts the celery in smaller pieces so it is good but not crunchy each bite. Also, my Mom makes a pretty good chicken pot pie. I need to lose weight so I’m going to eat less and when Christmas comes we will all fill up on some really wonderful foods.

It is amazing, but our favorite week night dinner is Cheezy Taco Orzo. We eat it on soft tacos or with tortilla chips, We have the usual taco sides and we all love it. I think the recipe is from Jo Cooks. I have been making it for a few years and it is super.

Favorite easy? Probably spaghetti. This is my favorite giveaway so far. I am sorry, I am greedy on this. I do not have any of your cookbooks and am sure I would love them. When I need a good recipe, I always check your blog first. Haven’t been disappointed yet. I could share/loan them, one at a time, but give away? Nope, don’t think so!
