Welcome to the weekend, my friends! Guess what??? Our chickens finally gifted us with some eggs! So much excitement over here this week. I can hardly wait until the rest of the hens stop freeloading out there. We’re all very excited about an abundance of eggs.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED Today, for the sixth week of the 12 Weeks of Christmas Giveaways, I’m giving away a Kindle Paperwhite. I switched from traditional books to my Kindle paperwhite over 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back.

For the most part, I use my library to borrow books online in addition to watching for Amazon sales and saving all my gift cards for books. I’m all about getting my hands on as many books as possible. And to make your reading life even more fun, I’m adding in a $50 Amazon Gift Card to help load your new Kindle up and get your started.

AND there’s a BONUS GIVEAWAY happening over on Instagram this week! If you are in the Columbus area (specifically within driving distance of Granville, OH – because I love my awesome village and want to share some fun) you can leave a comment on THIS INSTAGRAM POST and enter to win a $100 gift card to Snapshots Lounge. (I recommend Luke’s Sinful Snack – my version is pictured on Instagram, The Cuban or The Creep sandwiches, and pretty much any chef recommended special.)

ON THE BLOG this week: Salty bacon, tender sweet potatoes, and caramelized Brussels sprouts are combined in this fantastic side dish. Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Brussels Sprouts and Bacon are pure awesomeness from start to finish.

Everything you love about a fully loaded baked potato is tucked into this rich and creamy Baked Potato Soup. There are fluffy bites of baked potato in every bite.

Pumpkin Spice Waffles are a fall favorite with my whole family. Topped with my grandmother’s Waffle Sauce, this is a breakfast or brinner that we all look forward to.

What I’m CRAVING: This Chocolate Caramel Toffee Cake over at Curly Girl Kitchen caught my eye this week and it sounds incredible. And this Zuppa Toscana (Creamy Sausage, Potato, and Kale Soup) from The Food Charlatan looks absolutely mouthwatering.

My FAVORITE THINGS this week are these 2020 t-shirts. I ordered them for my guys for Christmas to wear with their new pajama pants and I can’t wait to see their faces. (And yes, I’m safe to share this with you here, because I’m pretty sure there isn’t anything my teenagers are less likely to read than their mom’s weekly newsletter.)

What I’m READING: About Your Father and Other Celebrities I Have Known by Peggy Rowe. After reading Mike Rowe’s book earlier this year, I knew I needed to get my hands on his mom’s book. He definitely inherited her ability to tell a great story. I couldn’t put this book down and I found myself cracking up laughing more than once.

What I’m WATCHING: I started watching the first season of Chuck the other day and so far, I like it. I really like waiting to watch a series after it’s complete. Here’s hoping this is a good one. Have you watched this one?

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

I love historical fiction, esp those set in World War 2. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is one my favorites. I’ve also been enjoying the Mitford books which I started on your recommendation. I’d love to win a Kindle!

I save most of the books you recommend on my wish list and have read many of them. I have been getting my books from the library.

Who would have thought at 61 years of age I would be looking to read a book on a tablet, of all things! I’ve been holding off catching up on the Stephanie Plum series, as they are such a delight I tend to binge read and nothing else. It truly is a laugh-out-loud experience and that is a rarity these days so that’s what I would read on my new Kindle.

I’d like to read this book…”All the Light We Cannot See: A Novel” by Anthony Doerr…I’ve read some excerpts from the book…

With 2020 being what it is, I’ve chosen to read books that have happy endings, are uplifting or funny. Recently I read “The Girl Who Could Read Hearts” by Maysonave. Though not a book where you smile all the way through, it was heart warming and perfect for this year.

I love reading mystery thrillers and just discovered Harlan Coben over the summer. He has a lot of books but I have only read Run Away and The Boy from the Woods. Both are really good. I also read When Life gives you Pears by Jannie Gaffigan. It’s her journey through being diagnosed with a brain tumor and having a busy career, being a wife to a comedian and mother to 5 kids.

Thank you Mary. I have been getting and saving your newsletters for quite a while. I love these recipes, I wish I did live nearby for the bonus giveaway. Thanks for the chance…

I am currently reading A Heart Like His by Beth Moore. This is my very first Kindle book! I am really liking it. I was a die hard “have a book in my hands” person, but I broke down and loaded the Kindle app and I really like it!

I just finished American Dirt. Very intense. Shed many tears while reading this book. I am now reading A Time For Mercy/Grisholm book. One of my all time favorites is Where the Crawdads Sing. Would love to win the Kindle.

  12. Marianne Stana says

I would love to have a chance to win a Kindle. I love to read, always have a stack of books to bury my nose in. I do travel some and will be helping my daughter in Spain for long periods, so having a Kindle would make it easier than hauling heavy books. I want to read Rebecca, that’s next in my list. I highly recommend How to Be an Antiracist, very thought provoking.

    Thanks for the opportunity

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win the Kindle. The last book I read just came out a few weeks ago, A New Breed #2 in the Daughters of Destiny Diaries series. We plan to travel RV style in the coming days and a kindle would be a great way to “pack” a few books to go.
Thank you for the Lamentations verse. Wonderful way to finish off your notes.

  14. Marie Stivers says

I am currently reading Loving Eleanor by Susan Wittig Albert. Learning so many things I never knew about her and her life.
    I would recommend it.
