Welcome to the weekend, my friends! We have rain in the forecast this weekend and I’m so very happily here for it. Hearing the rain on the roof and windows just makes me so darn happy. After spending so much of my life in the desert, I’m guessing the thrill of a rainy season isn’t going to fade soon.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED Today, for the second week of the 12 Weeks of Christmas Giveaways, I’m giving away a pair of Hunter Rain Boots! I have the original style in glossy red and I love wearing them. One lucky winner will be able to choose whichever color and style (original or tall) that they like best. You can see them all HERE.

For what it’s worth? You are never too old to jump in puddles while wearing cute boots. Trust me on this. It’s the best part of a rainy wet day.

Here’s the lucky winner’s comment:

ON THE BLOG this week: Sliced fresh apples, with a drizzle of peanut butter and honey, topped with a handful of crunchy chocolate peanut butter granola adds up to a plate of Crunchy Apple Nachos.

The BEST Chicken Tetrazzini begins with chicken, mushrooms, and pasta that is tossed together with a creamy, garlicky sauce. Then everything is sprinkled with just a handful of cheese and baked long enough to melt it all together. Served with warm bread and a salad, this meal is a hit every time.

These Dark Chocolate Whole Wheat Brownies have everything I dream of in my chocolate desserts. They are chewy, cakey, fudgy, gooey, and delicious! Plus, they are perfect with fresh strawberries and a scoop of ice cream. Is there a form of chocolate in the world that isn’t lovely with fresh berries?

What I’m CRAVING: This One Pot Chicken and Dirty Rice looks like the perfect hearty meal for my crew. I’m a big fan of skillet meals that include salty bites of kielbasa (like this One Pot Jambalaya Pasta).

My FAVORITE THINGS this week are these adorable Thanksgiving candle holders. I don’t typically do much fall decorating, but I simply could not resist these for the table!

What I’m READING: Fresh Eggs Daily: Raising Happy, Healthy Chickens…Naturally by Lisa Steele. I found Lisa’s website Fresh Eggs Daily when our baby chicks first arrived this past spring. All of the info has been immensely helpful as we’ve been building the coop and setting everything up for our chickens. The book is a wealth of advice for any new (or likely even more experienced) chicken keepers. I can hardly wait for the first eggs to be laid!

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

    Hi Mary,

I could really use those cute boots today as we are getting rain all weekend from hurricane Delta. Just wanted to let you know I am reading the Mitford series. I am starting book number 9. I can hardly wait to see what Father Tim, Cynthia and the rest of the wonderful characters are up to. I have the cookbook and I am going to try my hand at making the orange marmalade cake for the holidays.

If I should be the lucky winner of the boots, I would love the Violet color in a short boot. Thank you for this wonderful give away.

I would choose the lovely shiney red boots, since red is one of my favorite colors. Plus, they didn’t have a shiney blue that was anywhere near as pretty as the red!!!

BTW your Chicken Tetrazzini and those lovely Fluffy Biscuits look absolutely delicious! They will be showing on my menu and dining table later this week! Thank you for your generosity in sharing/posting them!

I would choose a pair of the lovely shiny red boots, since red is one of my favorite colors, plus they don’t have a shiny blue color that I like anywhere near as well as that beautiful shiny Marine Red!
