Welcome to the weekend, my friends! Can we just be honest and say the summer has been a weird one? Not a whole lot of news here this week. Chickens are growing, the coop should be done today (just need to build their run next week), kids are eating like ravenous wolves (nothing new there), the guys are all playing guitar constantly, and otherwise, we’re making the most of our summer at home. We’re all looking forward to enjoying some time with a guest or two next month! How are you all doing? I’d love to hear from you.

ON THE BLOG this week: Pineapple, strawberries, and grapes are tossed together with a sweet and tangy honey-lime dressing to make this Honey Lime Fruit Salad.

Juicy bites of pineapple are mixed with chewy oats and sweet coconut to give this Pineapple Baked Oatmeal a fun tropical twist.

Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Shrimp Stir Fry is a skillet full of sautéed shrimp tossed in a spicy barbecue sauce with sweet chunks of pineapple and red peppers. This meal gets two thumbs up from my whole family every time I make it.

What I’m CRAVING: This recipe for Chicken Teriyaki Noodles by Sweet C’s has my mouth watering this weekend. As much as my guys enjoy ramen, this is a sure win.

My FAVORITE THING this week is this gel effect nail polish. I’ve been using this brand (and only this “gel effect” line in the Nails Inc brand) of nail polish for a couple of years and it’s incredible. (It’s been 2-3 years since I was at a salon for a mani or pedi.)

The polish is usually good for 3-4 weeks on my toes. I get about a week on my hands and often much longer before it begins to look worn. It is almost as good as professional gel nails without any of the hassle. This works just like a classic bottle of nail polish, no lights or special tools required.

What I’m WATCHING: Iron Man 1, 2, and 3 I love a great superhero movie and Iron Man is always fun. We watched the Avengers movies last week and that set us off on a superhero kick.

What I’m READING: At Home In Mitford by Jan Karon. Oh, how I enjoyed this book. A few of you have recommended this series over the past year and it reminded me so much of the old fashioned books I found on my mother’s and grandmother’s shelves while growing up. It’s just sweet and clean and charming.

The book provided a really lovely rest for my heart and mind as I imagined the small town happenings in Mitford through the bachelor rector’s life. I laughed and smiled and sighed through this one. I have the next book in the series on hold already and I imagine I’ll read through them all.

“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” – Jeannette Walls

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
