Welcome to the weekend, my friends! It has warmed up beautifully here in Ohio and we’ve seen a whole lot of people out enjoying this weather. I hope it’s a beautiful weekend where you are too!

Much like we talked about last week, my prayer continues to be that we will all love one another and grow to be more empathetic. I mess up all day every day in so many ways and am in constant need of God’s mercy and love to help change me and guide me. The past few weeks have been really tough for most of us, and at least for me, social media isn’t helping one bit.

Most of us seem to understand that racial prejudice is a learned behavior and it can also be a heart issue. Social media is never a great place to try to change someone’s heart and mind. I’m praying for opportunities now and in the future for face to face conversation and for open hearts.

ON THE BLOG this week: This Crispy Breakfast Hash is perfect for a lazy morning at home. It starts with bacon and potatoes and then gets a flavor boost from whatever vegetables that you happen to have on hand. Top it with an egg for a truly great way to start your day.

I’ve made this Mediterranean Tuna Pasta Salad three times in the past month or so and the recipe is definitely a keeper. I love a vinegar based salad for the times when we want to eat outside and not immediately worry over putting the foods away. (I’m looking at you, delicious mayo-based salads!)

Want to cool off with a bowl of homemade ice cream this weekend? We’re loving this Mixed Berry Ice Cream – made with a simple batch of our favorite Berry Sauce! Nothing complicated here at all.

What I’m CRAVING: My friend Meseidy’s Juicy Lucy Burgers caught my eye this week and oh my goodness, they look AMAZING!

My FAVORITE THING this week is our new grilling set. Why did I never think to look for an OXO set before now? Live and learn. Sturdy, comfortable to use, and bonus points for being inexpensive. (Have you seen how crazy expensive some grilling sets are? And we never even use half of those random tools that they are filled with.)

What I’m READING: The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls. Growing up in rural Appalachia in extreme poverty, the author and her siblings had to fend for themselves, supporting each other through a horrific childhood as they weathered their parents’ wildly unpredictable and highly dysfunctional behavior.

Through most of the book, Jeannette tells her story with very little emotion, leading you to rage for her at times. I can guarantee you’ll want to smack those parents a time or two, but you’ll also want to cheer the moments of joy.
