Ohio sunset

May 30, 2020

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! Can you believe that it’s nearly JUNE? This has been the craziest year, but the sun is shining now and I am so very happy to have the kids’ school year wrapped up at last.

Since we cancelled our cross country road trip for summer, I’m looking at places closer to us that we can drive to with our camper this summer. I’d love any suggestions you might have for places in the range of a day’s drive from Columbus, OH.

ON THE BLOG this week: This Pineapple Mint Gelato is refreshingly light and not too sweet – kind of like if your favorite mojito married itself to a bowl of ice cream.

Potatoes, eggs, olives, and pickles are combined in a tangy, slightly spicy, absolutely irresistible dressing to make this Cholula Potato Salad.

Strawberry. Pretzel. Salad. It’s not a salad and it sure isn’t my mama’s typical Sunday dinner jello either. I first tasted this bit of heaven at my Aunt Judy’s house several years ago. It really was quite the experience. The pretzel crust adds a salty-sweet layer to this dessert that balances it so very nicely.

What I’m CRAVING: This Earth Bowl Salad by Iowa Girl Eats is filled with spicy broccoli and corn, white cheddar cheese, tomatoes and smokey candied walnuts. Doesn’t that sound incredible?

My FAVORITE THINGS this week are these traceless hair ties (link HERE). My hair has been up more than it’s been down for the past few weeks. (anyone else soooo ready for the salons to reopen??) These hair ties are awesome for tossing your hair up and then forgetting about it. No creases or lines in your hair when you take it down and it’s super easy to tuck the ends in for messy buns.

Side note – I’m looking at some of the reviews now. I bought mine from Amazon 2-3 years ago, and have never had a problem, however it sounds like there are a lot of inferior ones out there now that aren’t the authentic brand. Be sure to check the seller reviews.

What I’m READING: The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth (link HERE) I don’t want to give away any spoilers here. So, I’m giving you very few details. This was a pretty quick read that kept me turning pages late into the night. This book was a good reminder that life’s experiences play a huge part in the person we become – whether good or bad.

“The beautiful spring came, and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” – Harriet Ann Jacobs

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

I had no idea you live in Columbus, we’re in Worthington. Love your blog and many of your recipes are my go tos. Catching up on blog reading, obviously I’m way behind. We did Kelleys Island last week, it was a fun day trip. The Wilds is good. We’re going to try Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, OH soon. You can rent golf carts or walk around it. Stay safe!
