Welcome to the weekend, my friends! I hope that you’re all doing well. Other than puzzles, books, and more tv in the evenings than I can ever recall before, it’s life as somewhat usual over here.

I’d love to hear what you are up to these days! Feel free to distract me and provide me with any new ideas you might have to occupy our nights at home. While we’ve been fortunate to be able to stay home and enjoy most of this time together, I’d love a few new ideas for games or books or movies or anything else.

ON THE BLOG this week: Just a little bit of bacon adds a huge amount of flavor to this Chinese Chicken and Vegetable Stir Fry. The unexpected salty bites are irresistible.

Asian Rice is a side dish that I’ll never get tired of; it makes the perfect accompaniment to any meal. If you’re tired of boring white rice, change it up next time with this recipe.

And just in case you’re lucky/unlucky enough to have accidentally ordered 10 avocados instead of 2, and they showed up at your door very very ripe, this Spicy Guacamole is just the recipe to use them up deliciously.

What I’m CRAVING: I’ve never craved piping hot, crispy restaurant fries more. So, I caved. I dug out the deep fryer and ordered potatoes. I’m going to try this twice fried method for making restaurant-style fries at home. Wish me luck!

My FAVORITE THINGS this week are my Sloggers. I wear these shoes pretty much every day to walk to the mailbox, run out to the office, or walk around the yard. You all recommended these garden shoes last year and I love them. They’re surprisingly comfortable, waterproof, and easy to slide on and off.

What I’m WATCHING: Jumanji: The Next Level. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart are simply spectacular together. The Jumanji sequel is every bit as awesome as the first. I highly recommend it for a night of laughter. While not family-friendly for the youngest crowd, (use your own judgment there) my older boys and I enjoyed it greatly.

What I’m READING: Still Me by Jojo Myers. I read the first book in this trilogy a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Side note: If you haven’t read Me Before You, I highly recommend it. That said, I started the second book last year and simply could not get into it. It didn’t even feel like it was written by the same author.

I never would have picked up this third book if it hadn’t been highly recommended to me, along with the fact that the other person also disliked the second book. I’m so glad that I listened! This is a great read and I could hardly put it down. There were unexpected turns and so many smiles along the way.

I don’t think that another book will ever compare with the first one, it was so unexpected and lovely and sad and happy and everything else. But, this book continues the story and I’m glad to have read it. I really enjoyed seeing all the threads from the original story finished.

“I have learned that to be with those I like is enough” ― Walt Whitman

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

Glad you mentioned Still Me. I didn’t like the second book so wasn’t going to read the third. Now I’ll have to!
