This rose cake. I’m still in awe of it. Start to finish, this beauty was decorated in way less than ten minutes with little more effort than classic buttercream icing and a 1M piping tip.

I’d tell you it was five minutes, but my personal learning curve for filling the decorating bag was a little steep. When I tell you that I am NOT a cake decorator, you really should believe me.

However, this cake might fool you into thinking I have a clue what I am doing in the cake department. (Yes, if you look closely,  you’ll find a whole lot of mistakes, but me, I am giddy over it! It still looks 4,827,391 times better than any cake that has ever been made in my kitchen in the past!)

The Rose Cake decorating technique was created by the fantastically talented Amanda Retke. I’m betting that Amanda could have decorated this cake in about 3 minutes with a hand tied behind her back, but I am still thrilled with my ten minute time. In addition to all of her talents, Amanda is one of the sweetest bloggers I’ve met since I started blogging.

Coconut and Black Walnut Cake. Cream Cheese Frosting with Coconut in and then topped with coconut. Except those white Roses would be lovely as frosting.

Greetings from sunny Santa Barbara, CA….

I almost drop out of cake decorating class due to buttercream icing.
The saving grace was when fondant was introduce to us by our
beloved instructress, I fall madly in love with fondant decorating, which
is now my medium of decorating my cakes. But all these changed when I
saw a YouTube tutorials' on this method of cake decorating. These days
this is my to-go-to decorating technique for those unplanned orders.
Quick and easy cake decorating style, that leaves recipient with AWE in
their looks. Hopefully, someone can discover a new technique that would
work best for a man's cake.
Happy decorating day to you and all cake decorating enthusiasts…

Hi Mary, an amazing cake and cookbook….
My friend Linda in OR, who bakes for all her friends, family, and co-workers turned me on to your blog, glad I am not the only one who hates shoes, ha ha!
If I got this book I would pass it on to Linda as she has better vision—and people just love her creations, many of which she gets from your blog.
It's beautifully done (I have enough vision to see with magnification on my computer.)
    Keep up the flour power!
