This rose cake. I’m still in awe of it. Start to finish, this beauty was decorated in way less than ten minutes with little more effort than classic buttercream icing and a 1M piping tip.
I’d tell you it was five minutes, but my personal learning curve for filling the decorating bag was a little steep. When I tell you that I am NOT a cake decorator, you really should believe me.
However, this cake might fool you into thinking I have a clue what I am doing in the cake department. (Yes, if you look closely, you’ll find a whole lot of mistakes, but me, I am giddy over it! It still looks 4,827,391 times better than any cake that has ever been made in my kitchen in the past!)
The Rose Cake decorating technique was created by the fantastically talented Amanda Retke. I’m betting that Amanda could have decorated this cake in about 3 minutes with a hand tied behind her back, but I am still thrilled with my ten minute time. In addition to all of her talents, Amanda is one of the sweetest bloggers I’ve met since I started blogging.
If I can make this cake, ANYONE can. Seriously. I am the least talented cake decorator you’ll ever meet and this cake decorating technique makes it look like I know my way around a piping bag.
Check out the step by step tutorial here and prepare to be amazed by how EASY it is!
