Hawaiian Oatmeal is a hearty, creamy oatmeal filled with juicy bits of pineapple, chewy nuts, a sprinkling of coconut, and a dusting of brown sugar.

We are huge fans of oatmeal and there is no better way to start a fall day than with a fun bowl of oatmeal. My kids can make most of our oatmeal recipes on their own and I have to admit that it’s kind of awesome to be served a tasty meal in the morning while barely lifting my sleepy head out of my coffee cup.

Hawaiian Oatmeal with pineapple, coconut, and almonds is a kid favorite!

I love playing with different flavors and add-ins for our oatmeals. My kids almost licked the pan clean after we ate this oatmeal for breakfast and I already promised them we’d use the rest of the pineapple for more Hawaiian Oatmeal tomorrow.

Oatmeal Recipes

While stovetop oatmeal is probably our most frequently eaten oatmeal, we also love baked oatmeal and crock-pot oatmeal. I’m always experimenting with different combinations of add-ins for oatmeal.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal is a classic breakfast that’s especially comforting in the fall. If you enjoy autumn flavors in your oatmeal, you’ll also like this Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal with Vanilla Whipped Cream. 

When it comes to baked oatmeal,  this Apple Pie Baked Oatmeal is definitely a standout recipe. It’s two of my favorite things (apple pie and oatmeal) all baked into one meal.

Every time I make this, I can hardly wait to dig in to this Hawaiian Oatmeal!

Have you ever made crockpot oatmeal? When I have the time for it, it’s one of my favorite ways to cook oats.

In this Slow Cooker Strawberry Banana Oatmeal recipe, you mix all the ingredients together in a crockpot and let it cook for about an hour. I love to throw everything in the slow cooker right when I wake up then let it cook while I get ready for my day.

Another family favorite is this Slow Cooker Almond Raisin Oatmeal. If you haven’t tried a crock-pot oatmeal yet, put it on your meal plan soon. You’re going to love it!

No one can resist this Hawaiian inspired oatmeal!

Hawaiian Oatmeal Recipe

  1. Combine the oats, water, salt, nuts, and pineapple in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, until the oatmeal thickens.
  3. Scoop into serving bowls, sprinkle with sugar, and toppings as desired.

Hawaiian Oatmeal

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds or chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup pineapple tidbits
  • Topping Ingredients:
  • 3 - 4 teaspoons light brown sugar optional
  • 1/4 cup pineapple tidbits
  • 1/4 cup sweetened coconut plain or toasted
  • 2 tablespoons sliced almonds or chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Combine the oats, water, salt, nuts, and pineapple in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, until the oatmeal thickens. Scoop into serving bowls, sprinkle with sugar, and toppings as desired. Enjoy!

    I love porridge and this sounds like a lovely variation of tastes. Maybe when eating this I could see myself on a warm Hawaiian beach somewhere instead of freezing Melbourne at the moment.

    Delicious and nutritious! I had to half the recipe, and it still makes more than I can possibly eat. It’s a great way to use up pineapple, surely, and plenty filling.

    I toasted the coconut and had to use up some walnuts, too.

    Thank you for posting this recipe I will probably make again and again.5 stars
