Tart apple slices, creamy peanut butter, and toasted marshmallows add up to the Green Apple S’mores that are about to become your new favorite camping treat.

My sister in law made these for us while we were camping and I’m not going to deny that I was a bit skeptical at first.

However, the combination of sweetly tart apples, creamy peanut butter, and sweet gooey marshmallows proved completely irresistible. This was love at first bite.

We just got back from our annual family camping trip and I could hardly wait to share these Green Apple S’mores with you.

When eight siblings and their families all meet in one place, it’s crazy and crowded and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for a peek into our annual campout.

I came home from camping and picked up green apples at the store the very next week. My kids flipped out when I told them we were going to make s’mores on the stove so that I could grab a photo to share on the blog.

We made these Green Apple S’mores with both jumbo marshmallows and standard size large marshmallows. Personally, the giant marshmallows were a bit much for this girl, but my kids absolutely loved the extra gooey filling.

Kitchen Tip: We use these roasting sticks to toast marshmallows. (We LOVE them!)

Green Apple S’mores

  1. Slice the apples thinly across the core, creating 6-8 slices per apple. (Remove the center core with a sharp knife, if desired.) Spread apple slices generously with peanut butter.
  2. Toast the marshmallows and stack a toasted marshmallow in between two slices of peanut butter slathered apple.

Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest - Big Lake, AZ

We moved our annual family camping trip to a new location in the White Mountains at Big Lake, AZ this year and we couldn’t be happier about it.

Arizona’s monsoon season has been known to rain out our trips more than once, so having a huge covered pavilion in the center of our camp site was basically a dream come true.

Cornhole, volleyball, tetherball, bocce ball, board games, lengthy hours spent learning my brother in law’s newest favorite strategy games, these are a few of the things that fill our camping days.

Bicycling, hiking, finding wildflowers, making mudpies. and cooking on their “pretend” firepit, the kids went non-stop from dawn until late each night.

While many of our crew were playing at the lake, finding frogs, building forts and eating all the foods, several others managed to squeeze in a nap (or three) over the long weekend.

There aren’t many things that beat lying on the reclining camp chairs with a book in your lap while you drift off to sleep in the gorgeous weather. (See, there ARE redeeming qualities to camping!)

Want a peek into our past camping trips? Do you like to camp? If so, are you a tent camper or more of a glamper?

After 30+ years of tent camping, I am very happily a glamper now. The fifth wheel has become our favorite way to travel as a family over the past year.

So neat that all your siblings get together!!!! Not a camper….. My idea of “roughing it” is when there isn’t a refrigerator/coffee maker in the hotel room and I have to “hoof” it a floor or so away to get to the ice machine…. teehee. I could sooo get behind this s’more recipe. I find the traditional one a little too sweet for me now.

What wonderful memories y’all are making. My husband and I use to take our two boys camping all the time when they were growing up. We had a tent, sleeping bags and a picnic table at our camp site. The only thing I absolutely had to have was we had to camp near were the bathrooms and showers were. Later on when they grandchildren starting coming we did get a camper and boat. Memories with our grandchildren. Love your site. Thanks for sharing.
